The Origin of Linen
PureLino begins with the flax plant, one of the oldest cultivated textile fibers in the world. For thousands of years, linen made from flax has been valued for its strength, breathability, and natural elegance.
Flax thrives in temperate climates where cool air, rich soil, and gentle rainfall allow the plant to grow tall and strong. When the plant reaches maturity, its slender stems contain long natural fibers that form the foundation of linen fabric.
These fibers are known for their durability and natural ability to regulate temperature, making linen one of the most comfortable materials for warm environments.
Harvesting the Fiber
Unlike many other textile crops, flax is harvested carefully to preserve the length of its fibers. Instead of cutting the plant, it is traditionally pulled from the ground so that the entire stem remains intact. This ensures the fibers remain long, which contributes to the strength and quality of the final fabric.
Once harvested, the flax stalks undergo a process called retting, where moisture and natural enzymes help separate the fibers from the woody stem. This step allows the long, flexible fibers inside the plant to be carefully extracted.
The fibers are then dried, combed, and refined until only the smooth, usable strands remain.
Spinning and Weaving
After the fibers are prepared, they are spun into fine linen yarns. These yarns are woven together to create fabric that is both durable and lightweight.
The unique structure of linen fibers gives the material its distinctive texture and breathability. Linen allows air to flow easily through the fabric, helping regulate body temperature and creating a naturally cool feeling against the skin.
This natural airflow is what makes linen especially valued for warm climates and summer garments.
The Creation of PureLino™
At 001, these natural fibers are refined into PureLino™, our signature linen material designed for comfort, lightness, and effortless sophistication.
PureLino™ preserves the natural character of linen while refining the fabric for a softer feel and a cleaner drape. The result is a material that remains breathable and lightweight while maintaining a polished and elevated appearance.
The subtle texture of linen gives each garment depth and character, creating pieces that feel relaxed yet refined.
Why It Matters
Linen is valued not only for its comfort but also for its durability. The fibers are naturally strong and become softer over time while maintaining their structure.
Garments made with PureLino™ are designed to provide lasting comfort, making them ideal for warm climates and everyday wear where breathability and elegance meet.
