Maison Wool™

The Origin of Wool

Maison Wool™ begins with one of the most time-honored natural fibers in textile history: wool. For centuries, wool has been valued for its warmth, resilience, and ability to adapt to changing climates.

The finest wool fibers are sourced from sheep raised in open landscapes where natural conditions allow their coats to grow thick and healthy. Throughout the seasons, sheep develop a dense fleece that protects them from wind, cold, and changing temperatures.

This fleece contains natural fibers that are both strong and flexible, forming the foundation of one of the most versatile materials used in garments.

Harvesting the Fiber

Wool is obtained through a process known as shearing, where the fleece is carefully removed from the sheep once or twice each year. This process does not harm the animal and allows a new coat to grow naturally.

Once collected, the raw fleece contains a mixture of fibers, oils, and natural impurities. The wool is carefully washed and cleaned to remove these elements while preserving the integrity of the fibers.

After cleaning, the wool is sorted to ensure only the highest quality fibers are selected for textile production.

Refinement and Spinning

The cleaned wool fibers are then combed and aligned through a process known as carding. This stage separates the fibers and arranges them into soft strands ready for spinning.

The fibers are spun into yarn, creating threads that maintain wool’s natural flexibility and strength. These yarns are then woven or knitted into fabric that retains the fiber’s natural properties.

Wool is unique in its ability to insulate while remaining breathable, helping regulate body temperature in both cooler and moderate conditions.

The Creation of Maison Wool™

At 001, these natural fibers are refined into Maison Wool™, our signature interpretation of this timeless material.

Maison Wool™ is designed to combine the traditional warmth of wool with a softer, more refined finish suited for modern garments. The fabric is crafted to provide structure and durability while maintaining comfort and ease of movement.

The result is a material that feels balanced — warm yet breathable, structured yet comfortable.

Why It Matters

Wool has remained a staple in high-quality garments because of its durability and natural performance. The fibers are resilient, able to retain their shape while offering insulation and breathability.

Garments made with Maison Wool™ are designed to deliver dependable comfort and lasting quality, making wool a material that remains relevant across generations.
