Its origin lies in the cold mountain regions of Central and East Asia, where winter temperatures can fall far below freezing. To survive these harsh climates, cashmere goats naturally grow an exceptionally soft undercoat beneath their outer hair.

This fine insulating layer protects the animal from extreme cold and produces one of the rarest and most sought-after fibers in the world.

The Collection of the Fiber

The process of obtaining true cashmere is slow and careful. As winter ends and temperatures begin to rise, goats naturally shed their soft undercoat. During this period, herders gently comb the animals to collect the loose fibers without harming them.

From each goat, only a small quantity of usable fiber is collected each year. After the raw fiber is gathered, it undergoes a meticulous process where coarse outer hairs are removed and only the finest inner fibers remain.

This stage, known as dehairing, is essential to achieving the smooth and luxurious softness that defines premium cashmere.

Refinement and Spinning

Once the finest fibers are separated, they are carefully cleaned and prepared for spinning. The fibers are then spun into delicate yarns that preserve their softness while creating strength and durability.

This stage requires precise control. Cashmere fibers are extremely fine, and maintaining their integrity during spinning ensures that the resulting yarn retains its natural softness and lightweight character.
